I had no particular reason to choose a hot air balloon as this term’s topic for our library display… I just thought the kids would get a kick out of it. To relate the topic to reading, I gave one of the pilots a book to hold, and I painted a bookish banner across the balloon. Then I decided that each child could colour a little house, but I had trouble thinking of a way to relate houses to reading… until it suddenly occurred to me that each roof was book-shaped. Problem solved!
Hello! I absolutely adore this display. Would you share the template you used for the houses?
Thank you for sharing all of your incredible displays!
Thanks Sara, that’s really kind of you. I’ll put the templates up ASAP. Cheers!
This is such an amazing display! Would love to try and re-create it at my school. Do you have the templates for the houses still? Couldn’t find where to click to download it. The balloon is fab was that drawn free-hand or did you use an outline?
This is amazing! Would you still have the templates for the houses?
I’m so sorry, but I don’t have them any more. I just drew them freehand with a black Sharpie. I made sure that two houses would fit on one piece of A4 paper so they can easily be photocopied, cut in half and distributed to the students to colour and cut out. If you print out the photo and enlarge it, you should be able to recreate a similar design fairly easily.
